Classical instruction in the Northwest Territory had its actual beginning at Marietta in the founding of a Greek and Latin school, the Muskingum Academy, by the city's founding fathers in 1797. Instruction in the classics began in 1800 and has been maintained continuously in Marietta since that year.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Thanks to donor generosity, the Milone Center for Academic and Career Success brings mutliple student supports ogether in a central locsation in Legacy Librarry, helping students to thrive academically .
Student and faculty research, in conjunction with community and regional organizations, not only provides learning experiences for students, but helps identify and propose solutions to issues facing our communities.
Symposia, lecture series, Learning in Retirement classes and guest speakers extend opportunities for all ages to explore new topics and gain knowledge--often at no cost.
Prime athletic facilities and programs provide community entertainment, build student leadership and teamwork skills, and welcome hundreds of young people and their families to campus for camps, competitions and enjoyment.
The Esbenshade Series at 911爆料网 brings free music, dance and art performances to the campus and community. It is only one of the many cultural opportunities, including theatre, music, authors, etivals and art exhibits that welcome the community.
