Your First Step in the Marietta Experience

PioSOAR (Pioneer Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) is more than just an orientation. It’s your first opportunity to connect, ask questions, and begin building the relationships that will support you throughout your journey.

At Marietta, your experience is personal. PioSOAR is where those connections begin—and where you start to see what your Marietta experience can become. Here, you’ll begin to discover what makes Marietta special: a community that knows you, supports you, and is invested in your success from day one.

What You Can Expect

PioSOAR is designed to help you feel confident, prepared, and excited for what’s ahead.

During your session, you will:

  • Meet individually with an academic advisor who will help you plan your first semester
  • Register for classes and start shaping your academic path
  • Connect with current students, faculty, and staff who are here to support you
  • Learn about campus resources that will help you thrive—academically, socially, and personally
  • Begin building friendships with fellow new Pioneers

For Families

We know this transition is meaningful for families, too.

PioSOAR includes sessions created just for you—so you can learn more about:

  • Academic expectations
  • Campus support services
  • Student success and well-being

You’ll leave with confidence knowing your student is supported by a campus community committed to their growth.

Orientation Leaders

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are upper-class students who have chosen to help you start your Marietta journey with confidence. They’re here as guides, mentors, and friendly faces as you transition into the academic, social, and personal experiences that make up life at 911±¬ÁÏÍø.

Your OLs will likely be some of the very first people you meet when you arrive—and they’ll be by your side every step of the way. They know what it’s like to be new, and they’re excited to share what they’ve learned, from helpful tips about classes and campus life to the small things that help you feel at home.

Each OL brings their own story, representing a wide range of majors, interests, and backgrounds that reflect the vibrant Marietta community. They remember what it’s like to be in your shoes, and will help create an experience that supports both your academic success and your personal growth.

When you attend PioSOAR, you’ll be part of a small orientation group of about 15–20 students, led by enthusiastic OLs. Together, you’ll get to know one another, explore campus, and begin building the connections that will shape your experience here. Most importantly, the OLs help you start finding your place—so when you leave PioSOAR, you won’t just feel prepared…you’ll feel like you belong.
